Simple way to make Churros

Do you know what is Churro? Churros are a fried dough pastry based snack that are popular in Spain, France, Philippines, Portugal and now are getting popular in Malaysia.  Churros can either be thin (and sometimes knotted) or long and thick. They are normally be eaten for breakfast dipped in cinnamon sugar or chocolate sauce.

Since people are talking about it in the facebook, I said to myself. Why not I give it a try!!  Actually the process is simple and the ingredients also can be easily found around your kitchen.


  • 1 cup of water
  • 100g butter (I used Buttercup brand)
  • 2 cups of wheat flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
  • 2 eggs

How to Make Churros: Creating the Dough

The first step is to combine the water and the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, and then remove it from the heat. Now add the flour to the mix and stir gently until all of the flour is wet. Some clumps of flour are okay. Then let it cool for about 5 minutes. Later, you add salt and vanilla essence. Then add egg one by one and mix it one more time until the dough becomes soft and shiny.

You then add the oil to the fryer and set it to 375ᵒF (if you have a fryer). Since I do not have a fryer, I just use a saucepan. But I put a lot of oils to make it act like a deep fryer. 

When you see the oil is hot, then push the dough out of the icing pipe to create the churro’s shape. If you don’t have an icing pipe or bag, feel free to just roll the churro dough into a log or a ball shape. Then pop them into the pan/fryer and allow them to cook. The length of time to cook is generally around 3-5 minutes. Once they are done cooking feel free to roll them in cinnamon or sugar for added flavor. My son loved to dip the churro with Nutella chocolate. Taste yummy.

Bahan bahan:
1 cawan air
100g mentega (saya pakai buttercup)
2 cawan tepung gandum
1/2 sudu kecil garam halus
1 sudu kecil esen vanilla
2 biji telur

Cara membuat Churros
Masukkan air dalam periuk dengan mentega tadi. Masak atas api sampai mentega cair. Bila mentega cair dan sebati dengan air masukkan tepung gandum, kemudian gaul semua bahan terseut sehingga menjadi doh angkat dan biarkan 5 minit untuk dough menjadi sejuk. Kemudian masukkan garam dan esen vanila dan sehingga menjadi sebati. Sekalo lagi masukkan telur satu persatu sehingga bancuhan menjadi lembut dan berkilat.

Kemudian masukkan bancuhan ke dalam piping bag yang diletak nozel dan pipe kan bancuhan tadi ke atas minyak yang panas tadi dan gorengkan ia selama 3-5 minit (nampak perang angkatlah). Dah siap bolehlah makan ditabur dengan gula halus atau dicicah dengan sos chocolate. Nak mudah cicah dgn Nuttela pun sedap.
